Made in Brunel (Through Glass) Animations
Nov 2025 - March2026
From September 2025 to June 2026 I was the Lead Animator for Made in Brunel, a multidisciplinary group of students from across Brunel University’s design departments, working together to showcase the innovation, talent, and passion within the student community.
As part of the team, I worked on a variety of animations to showcase the “Through Glass” brand, and promote the events we organised.
Sea Glass Event
One of the events our team organised throughout the year was a sea glass jewellery workshop, and I created this video to capture and celebrate the experience.
The concept emerged during the workshop itself, inspired by watching wire carefully wrap around pieces of sea glass to create intricate jewellery designs. I wanted the animation to reflect this process and visually connect the craftsmanship of the jewellery-making with the story of the event.
To achieve this, I used Blender to create a 3D animation of wire bending and wrapping around a sea glass stone, mirroring the techniques demonstrated during the workshop. I then combined the animation with footage from the live event in After Effects, blending the physical making process with digital motion design to create an engaging event recap.
Brand Launch
For the brand launch event, I planned, directed, edited, and created the motion graphics and animations for the launch video.
Working closely with the other Digital Media team members, I was involved throughout the entire production process, from the initial concept development to the final edit. This included storyboarding, shot planning, creating detailed shot lists, scouting filming locations across campus, and coordinating with actors to ensure the creative vision was clearly communicated.
During the two shoot days, I took on the role of director, overseeing the execution of the project on set. I was responsible for briefing actors, explaining shot requirements, maintaining the production schedule, and communicating closely with the camera operator to ensure each scene aligned with the storyboard and overall visual direction.
In post-production, I edited the final video and developed the motion graphics and animations that supported the brand identity and narrative. This project strengthened my skills in creative direction, project management, team collaboration, cinematography, and motion design, while giving me valuable experience leading a production from concept through to delivery.
